Smart:TrashBin

“In this project, I designed and built a Smart Dustbin using a BBC Micro:bit, an HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor, and a Servo Motor.

The logic is simple yet effective: the ultrasonic sensor acts as the ‘eyes’ of the bin, constantly measuring the distance of objects in front of it. When it detects a hand or trash within a specific range (for example, less than 20 cm), it sends a signal to the Micro:bit. The Micro:bit then commands the Servo Motor to rotate to a specific angle (usually 90° or 180°), which physically lifts the lid of the bin. After a short delay, the servo automatically returns to its original position, closing the lid securely.

This project is a practical application of automation and robotics, aimed at promoting hygiene by allowing a touch-free waste disposal experience.”
